Atkiray stands head and shoulders above most Eorzeans and carries himself accordingly. While it is clear that he is no stranger to work, his athletic form has been maintained through the rhythmic art of dance rather than simple laboring. His sun-baked russet skin carries with it the glow of a foreign traveler; his white-blue hair shimmers with diamond-like brilliance. Between the two lie eyes that shine with the warmth and intimacy of a candle-lit room.What others may call vanity, Atkiray simply calls "expression." The Au Ra dresses lavishly and expensively. While many garments within his expansive wardrobe are cut from noble cloth, others are little more than scandalous strips of fabric that draw the eye and excite the mind.
Atkiray is a master of all of life's vices and indulgences. A lifetime of pleasure-seeking has granted him a wondrous knowledge of all the things one can smoke, play, or imbibe. Of course, this has not been without its own cost upon his health and wellbeing. For what it is worth, he has no regrets or plans on stopping.While each curio in his collection has a connecting story or memory, none hold such a close place as the kiseru he purchased in Doma. Elegant in its simplicity and maintained to the most rigorous standards, Atkiray is rarely seen smoking without it.
Somehow, even with his past and the hardships of the road, the Au Ra has not let the world cool his heart or his passions. A citizen of all of Eorzea, Atkiray has seen it all and strives to do it all. Above it all he tries to be kind to those around him and is always willing to lend a kind word, a notched arrow, or a jaunty tune upon his ever-present violin.Even in the face of war, of primals, and of apocalyptic doom, Atkiray always walked forward and he never looked back.
HISTORY
Many of Atkiray's formative years were spent as an errand boy in a Garlean slave camp, the majority of his tasks were cleaning up after one mess or another and mending clothes. Once he was strong enough to lift a pick he was put to work in the mines, a dangerous job that had led to the death of many other slaves. Dark caves and tunnels became suffocating and the more he showed how much it bothered him the longer hours he was forced to work each day by his cruel masters.Spending so much time stuck in one place was enough to make most people feel twitchy, but it almost drove the Au Ra mad. His only solace came in the form of music and the very rare opiate. Often he could be found singing softly to himself or even occasionally being allowed to strum an instrument. His favorite songs took him to far away places that he so sorely wished to be.With the coming of the Warrior of Light and the liberation of Doma, Atkiray found himself finally free, but without a home and without a family. With no tethers to bind him he left, becoming a refugee in a strange land whose only real drive was to see as much of it as he possibly could.

Hello, my name is Cam and I'm a queer person who loves making and playing queer characters. Most of my experience roleplaying has been through MMOs which began around the age of sixteen with WoW and continued on in shorter stints into Rift as well as GW2. Admittedly I'm still rather new to FFXIV, I started playing a couple years ago, but burned out several times and would take long breaks from playing. I am here for good now and am looking to learn more about the game and get a better grasp on the lore.I have been around long enough to see all sorts of drama in all sorts of communities and I'm not really interested in any of the OOC parts of it. Most IC stuff is alright, but content warnings are always appreciated on potentially triggering subjects.I want to put here as an aside that while I do play a character who is a sex worker, I'm not interested in RPing out the erotic scenes. Any and all scenes that would lead to that will be black screened and I'm okay with doing a light discussion of what might occur. This is partly because it takes time to vet people (for assurances on age and my comfort), but mostly because I don't have the time nor energy for it really.Parting thoughts: Blacks Lives Matter. Trans men are real men. Trans women are real women. Nonbinary people are valid. Consent is important and can be rescinded at any time either person becomes uncomfortable.
